Blue Star - EU Indoctrination in Primary Schools

Back in 2010 at an Education Show in Birmingham in the UK , the European Commission's Publication Manager, Judith Schilling , handing out EU Booklets aimed at children , tells an interviewer:

Everybody has now picked up on the idea that we will never succeed to convince people about the value of being a member of the European Union if we do not start early enough with the young people before they form prejudices  and are misinformed by other sources."

- Judith Schilling , EU Commission spokesperson

The year after this , in 2011 , Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny and Minister for European Affairs Lucinda Creighton in association with the European Commission in Ireland and European Movement in Ireland started the Blue Star Programme in Primary Schools.

Enda Kenny and Lucinda Creighton launches the EU's Blue Star Programme for Primary schools in Ireland

According to the European Movement in Ireland who is responsible for training teachers and implementing the course :

The goal of the Programme is to foster a strong sense of EU citizenship

To achieve this they suggest that children should undertake projects in the classroom such as to "hold a mock parliament session" or "run a simple election" .

They say they will supply the children with "MEP info sheets" , "European Parliament wall chart" , a "Mini booklet of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union" and various print products with "Attractive photos and illustrations" which "make the print products very appealing to children" .

On Completion of the Course they will give the Class an "EU Flag and a Blue Star certificate of achievement signed by the Minister of State for European Affairs"

The Government has announced plans to complement the Blue Star Programme with a follow on programme in Secondary Schools.

A recent Department of Education Plan entitled "National strategy on Education for sustainable developement 2014- 2020" states :

The  NCCA has developed a draft syllabus for a new Politics and Society subject . The Minister for Education and Skills has recently prioritised the introduction of this subject. Its availability would complement the Blue Star Programme at primary level

National strategy on Education for sustainable developement 2014- 2020

I spoke to a man involved with the EU in Ireland and in organising Educational Training in Schools .

He told me he saw no problem with ignoring the Nice and Lisbon Referendum results and would have no problem with a 3rd Lisbon referendum ... so I asked him about a 4th or a 5th referendum and he smiled ... but its not really a smiling matter , once you cross the line and decide to ignore the first democratic decision of the people , Democracy then becomes a farce .

If people in favour of the EU are entitled to run Pro EU Political Classes in Primary Schools , well then , In a Democratic Society , Should people who oppose the EU not also be entitled to do the same ? Can anyone start a Politcal Programme in our Schools or is it exclusively only open to the European Union and its regional government here in Ireland?

Any system of Government that needs to Force its beliefs in order for those beliefs to be accepted is a totalitarian system of government .

Britain got out just in time

this kind of thing is sickening , forcing kids to hold up flags and then putting these pictures in your brochure in order to sell a product (the EU)

I hope there are irish parents out there who will object to their children having politics forced onto them by our government and the EU
#
Would love to stick an EU flag up Kenny's backside and set light to it.Of course they will target our young. But children are not as stupid as we grown ups think. My son who is 15,is very clued in to all this Euroskeptics stuff,my wife is very intelligent,I am more the muscle in the firm.We actually are very unlucky as all the mainstream parties are in love with the EU.This is a great site,I am in awe of how anti EU the comments are.Only stumbled on to it looking at GAA news. You all give me hope that perhaps we can get out of the EUSSR.

In the UK , they have a law which prohibits the promotion of partisan political views in schools .

I'd love to say Ireland could do the same but we no longer make our own laws .

our laws are now made by the EU Commission (the people pushing this blue star programme)

somehow I dont think they are going to pass a law preventing themselves from indoctrinating our children
#
Fine Gael have a lot of connections within the school system .

the vast majority of Fine Gael members are Teachers .

They are able to reach out to other teachers and principals and encourage them to engage with the Blue Star indoctrination programme .

Its the same with Fianna Fail (most are teachers) although in the beginning Michael Martin was against Blue Star , now he has rolled over like everybody does in Ireland

It was the same with the Nazi Party , most were teachers . They did the same thing to German Children .

I'm not having a go at teachers because , not all are like this , but many of them do have a certain inability to think independently of others and are therefore attracted to parties like Fine Gael .

Its important to point something out to people

there are two things - there is the European Union and there is the Continent of Europe

The Continent of Europe is a land mass filled with cultures , peoples and places

The European Union is a Political Zone ruled over by Politicians .

Children already learn about the Continent of Europe in Geography class

so whats the Blue Star programme about , its about politics , forcing political views on children
#
95% of teachers joined the Nazi Party , I'm not saying fine gael are nazis but there are similarities in their approach to certain issues
#
the school system should be non political .

children should be allowed to make up their own minds on political issues as they grow up .

this kind of thing happened in 1930s germany and look what happened there .

this year we are celebrating the centenary of the 1916 rising , men and women who gave their lives for a sovereign independent nation where Irish people could make their own laws and decide on their own affairs .

"we declare the right of the people of Ireland to the 'ownership' of Ireland and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies . To be 'Sovereign' and indefeasible " - 1916 proclamation .
