Cork Hotels Imperial and Maritime at centre of controversy
Gemma O'Doherty of Anti Corruption Ireland has lambasted The Imperial Hotel in Cork City and Maritime Hotel in Bantry after both hotels cancelled agreed bookings for upcoming meetings in Cork .
In a public broadcast on youtube , Ms O'Doherty said the Hotels gave no reason as to why they cancelled the events but it is thought to be the work of a small number of online activists opposed to the movement who had made complaints to the Hotels .
Veteran Disability rights campaigner Kathy Sinnott apologised to Ms O'Doherty on behalf of the people of Cork
your very welcome in cork , we are dying to hear you , i'm quite ashamed that its cork that had hotels cancelled . but really we're not like that in cork . I apologise that attempts were made in Cork to turn you away
- Disability rights campaigner Kathy Sinnott
Ms O'Doherty said that despite the cancellations , Anti Corruption Ireland will proceed as planned to the Imperial Hotel in Cork next Monday.
what I have decided to do in relation to both of these meetings is that I will be in attendance at the imperial hotel as I have promised next monday . I will be there and other core members of anti corruption Ireland will be there , I want that hotel to learn a very serious message , that we live in a democracy , well we dont , our democracy is in shreds , but we do have a constitution that protects free speech and a person's good name
