Food for thought - Abortion Referendum

I found it very amusing that Michael Martin in particular would talk about "respecting votes" and "the will of the people" in relation to any referendum .

If you cast your mind back to 2001 and 2008 and the Nice and Lisbon referendum results , Michael Martin and the Fianna Fail government refused outright to accept the 'will of the people' and had nothing but contempt for peoples vote including my own . In particular in his role as Minister for Foreign affairs during the Lisbon Treaty he was a key player in organising the second referendum . Can Michael Martin in all honesty not see the Hypocrisy of talking about 'respecting every vote , will of the people' etc .

I also thought it was in bad taste to have abortion celebrations . I mean , what kind of a person celebrates abortion ?

What part of an abortion does Leo Varadkar and Simon Harris find entertaining ? The baby arms ,  legs , head , baby fingers ?

it was no coincidence that abortion was brought in around christmas time (the birth of christ) , it was a message plain and simple to christians in Ireland .

think about this . 1 in 3 people voted No . If a new political party could harness that vote , it would put them straight into government

36% of people didn't vote at all , imagine if you could harness that vote , it would be something very special .

I agree mary . all of the political parties have now moved to the left . a gap has been left open to be filled . but who is going to fill it.

Leo the Lemon is celebrating ABORTION,GAY MARRIDGE, for his own self interest.HE IS A HOMOSEXUAL and we all know they cannot procreate.Another nail in the coffin of this Christian Country and Leo and his many merry Clones are up themselves in joyous amazement, " it's been so easy darlings". Look back to your history, why is the church of the people accepting this! COWARDS , HIPPOCRATES , TRAITORS ! Empty the trash

the LBGT movement was never about gay people , you can be gay and still love ireland , her traditions and culture and hate whats happening in Ireland . the lgbt movement is a far left invention to spread their religion of cultural marxism , most involved aren't even gay themselves , they use gay people to advance their cause , transgenderism being the latest , who knows whats next .

Sincere Thanks to Margaret O'Neill on the article!

In reply to both Mick & Emma O'Flaherty,

You are both absolutely correct and there is at least a chance that a portion of the 32% who voted in favour of the abortion bill will have at least reconsidered their position.

That said, and in reply to both comments on the vacancy that came about due to common decency being left on the table in place of possible future votes.

Which ever party / parties running on the Right / Center Right, need to be aware of the fact that FF,FG,SF, The Greens AND PBP WILL no doubt be banking on a possible division of votes.

By this I mean that those parties fighting for seats could very well end up in a situation where neither (if more than one runs) end up with enough votes to even make a difference.

This is something that has been playing on my mind for quite a while now, you see the left is absolutely of the view that their common policies will be enacted by force of numbers. Whereas the Right / Center Right starts literally from a point of disadvantage in that If only one party runs, they are weaker than the collective on the left.
On the other hand should more than one party run then there is at least the possibility that the overall vote could be watered down to a point that neither party might get enough seats to make a difference.

Perhaps it is just paranoia on my part & maybe I am totally wrong!, But that said I would be very interested in your opinions.
