Google Protesters to set up permanent Base and invite homeless people to join them
On Wednesday , protesters began gathering outside the offices of Google Ireland on Barrow Street in Dublin 4 calling on the company to reinstate the Youtube Video Channel of Irish Journalist Gemma O'Doherty who was permanently banned from the platform on Tuesday over alleged breaches of hate speech rules .
In a public address posted to her facebook page Ms O'Doherty explains .
we're going to keep a permanent base there , some of the guys are talking about bringing tents , we also want to welcome our homeless up there as well because its actually quite sheltered . we will look after them while we're there . we're there for 8 hours a day at least , we will be able to give them warm drinks , sandwiches , we will be able to give them company , talk to them about what their going through . if anyone who is homeless is listening to this now , please please come and join us .
Ms O'Doherty says the protests will continue until such time as her Youtube Account is restored and she gets an apology from the Company for the inconvenience caused to both her and her audience .
Nobody has given me an explanation as to why my channels were removed . They came up with a couple of phony excuses a couple of days ago ..'hate speech' .. but I said where is the evidence of that , where has a word of hatred come out of my mouth , they haven't been able to produce the goods on that . As soon as they come down , talk , apologise for all of the inconvenience they've caused me and my audience and people who want to know about corruption in Ireland , put the channel back up and that will be the end of it , but believe you me if they get away with this , they'll be coming for you next , facebook , google , twitter , they'll be all coming for you , thats why we have to say No , we're drawing a line in the sand and we're saying No , free speech must be respected , the fundamental tenant of this democracy must be respected , you're not coming into this country and telling us what we can and cannot say .
The protesters say they will continue the protests today and tommorrow from 2pm at the Offices of Google Ireland on Barrow Street Dublin 4.
