Google bans Gemma O'Doherty
Google Ireland has permanently banned Former Irish Independent Journalist Gemma O'Doherty from its Video Platform Youtube  .

Ms O'Doherty from foxrock in Dublin had been heavily critical of Government Policy and was attracting large numbers of subsribers to her live Video Feeds at the time of her Ban .

She had recently entered into politics founding the Anti Corruption Ireland Party in February and ran as a candidate in the European Elections in May gaining more than 10,000 votes in the Dublin Constituency .

Ms O'Doherty and her supporters , some of which hail from the Yellow Vest Ireland movement had previously demonstrated outside the Headquarters of Google Ireland in February followed by a similar protest outside Twitter Ireland in June citing erosion of free speech . The demonstrations followed temporary bans from those platforms ...

At the time Ms O'Doherty said "We as a people have to think very carefully about this . Are we going to  give away our freedoms , Are we going to give away our basic liberties to think , to express our thoughts , to discuss what we are thinking with other people , to share our ideas , this is the basis of a civilised nation and we are giving it away"  explained Ms O'Doherty ... "If we cant get our message out then we're wasting our time and if these companies want to come to Ireland and exploit our ridiculous tax rates etc then they're going to have to behave themselves and abide by the consitution which gaurantees our right to free speech and our right to free assembly"

A Google spokesperson indicated to the Irish Times that Ms O'Doherty was banned over alleged breaches of Hate Speech rules . "All users agree to comply with our terms of service and community guidelines when they sign up to use YouTube. When users violate these policies repeatedly, such as our policies against hate speech and harassment, or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts"

Over the past year , Google , Twitter and Facebook which all have their European Headquarters in Dublin have been working closely with the European Commission over what kind of speech is acceptable and what is to be classed as "hate speech" .

In a public statement posted to her Twitter Account , Ms O'Doherty said that she asked Youtube to explain what part of her speech was considered as 'hate speech' but the company has declined to comment . .... "I’m still waiting for @TeamYouTube to produce evidence of any ‘hate speech’ offence I committed. They have failed to because there is none. My appeal was ignored. When I asked them why, they removed both of my channels. Please support my demand to them to reinstate my work" explained Ms O'Doherty .

#
absolutely shocked . Gemma is a lady . Google Youtube should be ashamed . This decision must be reversed otherwise it sets a dangerous precedent for freedom of speech in Ireland .
#
when is the Google protest taking place . I'll be there . If Google thinks it can come to this country and block freedom of expression , something many irish died for , it has another thing coming
