ICCL and the push against Freedom of Speech in Ireland
ICCL and the ongoing push against Freedom of Speech in Ireland
While those fighting to save Free Speech in Ireland are facing ongoing (so called) counter protest, the skewed views and biased presentations from Irish media / Main Stream Media (MSM), plus the ongoing ignorance and OR refusal to recognise new political parties.
One would be forgiven for not fully understanding the current situation surrounding the Free Speech debate, as indeed was the case surrounding the whole Abortion debate.
Indeed Many today confess that they did not have all the facts or didn’t fully understand the absolute consequences of voting in favour of abortion in Ireland. Many also viewed (as it was presented to them) the whole abortion fiasco, as a means to ensure that never again would a Woman die unnecessarily in an Irish hospital.
This is the power of propaganda and especially Vastly financed propaganda.Just like the claim that the current proposals if enacted, would not curb Free Speech, but rather would deny hatred. Hence the carefully considered title of Anti-Hate Speech . After all, who in their right mind would be opposed to a bill that is designed to curb hatred?, designed to protect, designed to secure Ireland from Nazi, Fascist, Extreme Right Wing bigots and intruders!. None of which is either fact nor for that matter even believed by those doing their collective very best to deny YOU & I the right to say; I disagree with what you are saying, proposing, submitting, suggesting or about to force upon others.
The latest blatant attempt to destroy any and all descent, or simple opposition against the Anti-Hate Speech bill, literally pulls openthe curtains of propaganda and thus shows these Liberal groups for Exactly what they are!.
The Irish Council of Civil Liberties (ICCL) has produced a list for presentation to all Parties and Candidates in the upcoming Irish General Election, demanding that all candidates commit to their belated Christmas wish list.
In total there are eight demands set out by the ICCL in their Election manifesto document:
1. Establishment of “Safe Zones” So that Women & Pregnant People have access to medical facilities and obtain Abortion care in Privacy,Safety and Dignity.
2. The Introduction of Hate Crime Legislation so that “WE all feel safer from hateful attacks”.
3. Protect our privacy & data by halting the illegal Public Services Card project.
4. Establish a new Independent office of the Police Ombudsman so that we can all have confidence in An Garda Siochana.
5. Implement inspections of all places of detention in order to prevent Torture behind closed doors.
6. Establish an Ombudsman for Victims of Crime to ensure justice for victims of Crime.
7. Outlaw Image-based sexual abuse to prevent non-consensual creation and / or sharing of intimate images.
8. Reform the Electoral Act to allow Civil Society Organisations to function without fear.
The ICCL which waves the flag of civil freedoms in Ireland and proudly claims the following mission statement on it’s website: “We act as an essential defender of human rights and civil liberties and as an effective champion for theadvancement of justice and freedom in Irish society”.
Has in effect demanded in item no1,that the Government of Ireland abuse both the Constitution of Ireland and the universally recognised charter on Freedom of Speech, by insisting that the right of protest be DENIED! And that a cordon be erected around and nearby centres facilitating Abortions.
In doing so the Government (whoever they be) would be denying the right of protest and of Free Speech to the people of Ireland.
Furthermore, Women attending these centres for the purpose of advice on Abortion, would also be denied both the facilities available and advice given by those outside the centres, who advise Women on their rights and alternatives to Abortion.
In item / Demand no.2 from the Manifesto document, the ICCL are demanding that government construct or carry forward to completion the hitherto proposed Anti-Hate Speech bill, which would in effect deny the Irish Voter the Right of reply,to object, to debate or to simply voice concern on certain issues, without the absolute and Certain Fear of prosecution.
Although worded in a way that (as discussed here prior) appears totally reasonable, even going to the extent of using terms that at least appear to suggest that the ICCL demand is for the absolute betterment of all Irish people. Words like WE & ALL are used here as nothing more than Propaganda tools, used in such a way as to suggest that All (see my meaning) of the People of Ireland are fully behind the ICCL proposal/Demand and WE (suggesting all again) demand of the Government such action.
ICCL Manifesto item No’s 4 , Makes the claim or the suggestion that the Gardai are somehow a vital concern for (Again suggests inclusion) ALL the people of Ireland and there is also use of the word WE again.
I can NOT and would not dare to speak for the people of Ireland as the ICCL believe they have the right to do without consultation with the people.
But that said, in item no. 4,the ICCL make the suggestion that the Gardai are in some way lacking, untrustworthy or unable to carry out lawful instruction, therefore Ireland is suffering & in dire need of an “Independent office of the Police Ombudsman so that we can all have confidence in An Garda Siochana”.
Perhaps I am unaware of the suffering of MY people at the hands of the Stasi like Gardai, who MUST now,as a matter of absolute urgency be reined in (so to speak) so that we can ALL have confidence in the Police force of this island!. I admit to recently having a heart attack, but I was and am Totally unaware that I was the victim of a very lengthy coma also!.
In my humble opinion, what is lacking in law enforcement on the Island of Ireland is backing forthe Gardai, political will and Frankly the strengthening of law and Garda powers. Sadly, like many other Nations where the Liberal agenda, like a Cancer gets hold, there is also a victimhood mentality which consumes the vital and absolutely necessary resources of the Police forces in each nation.Respectfully I suggest an Independent Ombudsman overseeing the work and behaviour of NGOs and Civil Rights Organisations.
Item no.6 of the ICCL Manifesto document suggests setting up an Ombudsman for Victims Of Crime. While this suggestion is not in my personal opinion objectionable, I know of no reason why this function should be taken from Garda Ombudsman’s oversight. After all the foresight of government in attaching Victims ombudsman with the Garda Ombudsman’s is surely a good thingand serves to (as it were) cut out the very lengthy and timeconsuming work of seeking information & Documentation from one Ombudsman / Body to another. Unless of course the ICCL are suggesting some sort of impropriety on the part of the current Garda Ombudsman in / when assisting it’s Sister branch the Victims Ombudsman.
Furthermore, one could actually be forgiven, for assuming that the ICCL, ininsisting on an independent Garda (Police) Ombudsman is carrying out a campaign of softening it’s stance when it comes to crime, while at the same time in insisting on the setting up of an Independent Victims Ombudsman is actually nothing more than wanting ones cake and eating it at the same time. Either crime is a plight that must be dealt with professionally & swiftly as possible (as Gardai do within current restrictions) forthe sake of said victims OR the work of the Gardai must be underdirect scrutiny to curb and curtail Garda powers, I (would guess) am like many, confused by such shallow thinking.
Finally we come to item no. 8 in the ICCL Manifesto Document of demands, which if one is paying attention, is beyond doubt THE most juicy of them all!.
This alone is the biggest signal or pulling wide open of the Liberal propaganda curtains (indulge the curtain metaphor, one last time). It is without doubt the most self serving of all and shows clearly why the ICCL and other Liberal bodies (to be kind) areso successful in leading people by the nose.
The ICCL in proposing item no.8 (innocent as it seems) are trying to pry the door open to further massive funding from Billionaire backers in the USA and around the world. “Reform the Electoral Act to allow Civil Society Organisations to function without fear” Is genuinely a wonderful example of absolute propaganda at work, and NO doubt will invoke images of Ceausescu’s rule with an Iron Fist in Romania!, in the minds of folk my age. It is a statement that by it’s very design, is manufactured to suggest an organisation under great pressure from the Irish Government. A body of well meaning folk, being held back from a Soviet style Gulag by it absolute obedience to the state, fearing incorrect presentation or an incorrect statement of a well meaning understudy might inevitably lead to total persecution!.
The truth is this is nothing more than an attempt by the ICCL , possibly inaccordance with many, if not all Liberal organisations in Ireland, to hog-tie the new government into submitting to their collective demands for even greater financing from abroad.
The ICCL raised less than €6000 from Irish people in membership fees in 2018, but its cofferswere boosted by hundreds of thousands in donations from liberal foundations from abroad and by taxpayer funding, including a €64,476 donation from Soros and almost €340,000 from the European Union.
They also received €18,500 from the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission in 2018, with a totalincome of €830,000 for that year alone.
The civil liberties group had made very little impact until it received millions from U.S billionaire Chuck Feeney to build campaigns to change the law on issues such as gay marriage and become a voice campaigning for abortion.
Organisations such as ICCL are in my humble opinion, rightly limited in the amount of financial support it receives from International Donations by rulings from previous government. It would be absolute suicide politically should any candidate or political party in government decide to allow increased financial assistance from international donors, that said the current Irish Government has had no issues with dipping in to the public coffers to assist ICCL and other Liberal organisations in Ireland nor did the European Union for that matter!, as the ICCL financial report clearly proves.
In Conclusion, ask yourself the following question when it comes to giving your hard earned cash, signature or support to any organisation.
Ask are they actually working for the betterment of my People and my Country?
Ask Yourself, when they state we OR all ARE they talking about me? Or talking at me!
Ask Yourself, Am I willing to make the same type of decision / mistake as the Abortion one.
When it comes to giving away something as absolutely precious as your Vote in the upcoming General Election, Ask yourself is this the Ireland and The future I want for Myself, My People, My Country and MyChildren!.
