TDs that voted for EU Militarization (PESCO)
PESCO which stands for (Permanent Structured Cooperation) is a defence pact signed by 23 member states which seeks to integrate Europe's defences. It is backed by a 5-billion euro defence fund for buying weapons, a special fund to finance operations and money from the EU’s common budget for defence research. The US-led NATO alliance is backing the move.
Speaking at the launch , Federica Mogherini , EU Commission vice president and high Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security told reporters :
It is going to be quite a historic day today for European defence.
Today, after so many years, the provision of the Lisbon Treaty establishing the possibility for the European Union Member States to have a Permanent Structured Cooperation on defence is going to be initiated.
Today we will launch a new page for the European Defence and I think this will be the news of the day.

On 7th December 2017 , Irish TDs in Dail Eireann voted in favour of joining PESCO by by 75 votes to 42 .
Fianna Fáil’s defence spokeswoman, Lisa Chambers said its “extremely important that we as a member state show our support for the EU and its values”.
