The Reich's Ministry : Understanding Propaganda in Ireland

The Reich's Ministry : Understanding Propaganda in Ireland
Most of us will follow the same old routine day in and day out all of our lives .

How many of us will buy the same newspapers , listen to the same radio and tv and visit the same websites .

And this behaviour is ongoing , most of us dont even realise we are doing it .

In itself , this is not so bad , but what happens if the information being received is always the same .

If the information is always the same , it means we are subjected to the same ideas , the same opinions and the same ways of thinking .

As a result , its only a matter of time before most of us start thinking alike .

For an example of this process in action , I would like to use the 2016 General Election

The 2016 general election was held on 26 February 2016 .

In the 3 months prior to the election (Nov , Dec and Jan) , every day without fail , the breaking news of the Day were good news stories about the Economy , furthermore , all of these news stories were based around the same few points repeated over and over again .

I noted some of these points at the time . They appeared almost every day in some shape or form accross the entire media spectrum in the build up to the elections

Here they are .

1) ESRI expects earnings to grow by 5% next year .
2) ESRI says employment to break through the 2 million mark next year .
3) Salaries to rise by 2% by 2016 .
4) Billions to be returned to tax payer in coming weeks

All of these points appeared as headlines and news stories accross all the major media outlets not just once but almost daily sometimes worded differently , but always the MESSAGE to the people the same ... i.e. Dear irish people , the current government are doing extremely well , just look at all these good things , you must go out and vote accordingly .

And to this extent , it paid off , our people on hearing only one voice and now truly convinced of this beautiful picture being painted for them by the media , went out in mass numbers and voted again for Fine Gael , despite property taxes , water charges , austerity and everything else . It truly is remarkable achievement .

How many of us actually stopped to question any of the information being supplied to us .

For example , how many of us would actually look any further into the ESRI reports or anything else being communicated to us to see if it was actually true ? . Most of us are too busy to do this and simply take at face value everything being told to us must be true .

In his book Mein Kampf , Adolf Hitler , describes the process , which he later used on the German People to convince them of his evil intentions .

all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in sloans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.

Here, as so often in this world, persistence is the first and most important requirement for success

The broad mass of a nation does not consist of diplomats, or even professors of political law, or even individuals capable of forming a rational opinion; it consists of plain mortals, wavering and inclined to doubt and uncertainty.

The purpose of propaganda is to convince, and what I mean is to convince the masses. But the masses are slowmoving and only after the simplest ideas are repeated thousands of times will the masses finally remember them.

And then, to our amazement, we shall see what tremendous results such perseverance leads to-to results that are almost beyond our understanding .

- Adolf Hitler , Mein Kampf - chapter vi

In the weeks following the Brexit vote  , the Irish Media's response was to repeatedly engage in Jobs announcements each followed with the line and I quote .."the Company said it chose Ireland because we are in the EU" . This was the first time ever any such Jobs announcements in Ireland were followed by such a line ... If such a line was included it normally read ..." it chose Ireland because of our high skilled labour" . The purpose of adding this new line was to convince , convince the masses . Dear Irish People , do not doubt the EU , the EU is bringing you Jobs . There was no mention of the fact that we have the lowest corporation tax in the EU and perhaps this was a big factor  .

All of these propaganda messages are repeatedly communicated to us over and over not just at election times but on a range of political and social issues , somebody must want us to think in a certain way and more importantly to VOTE in a certain way when the time comes.

Its beyond the remit of the article to suggest who is doing this , but there MUST be somebody in Command , the News Stories must be coming from somewhere and Media outlets must be under orders to repeatedly communicate these stories to us .

the minute RTE news brought up the Eurogroup candidacy , I knew Paschal Donohoe would win, they knew from the start but wanted it to appear like a big victory , I hope someone in RTE will come forward and admit they knew at the beginning Donohoe would win and that it was all Propaganda from the beginning.

#
people are slowly awakening . RTE Radio news lost 27,000 listeners during the first quarter of 2019. Morning Ireland lost 18,000 listeners since February. The News At One lost 9,000 listeners during the first quarter . Liveline lost 6,000 listeners during the same period . Newstalk is also losing listeners . Pat Kenny lost 5,000 of his audience since February while the station's breakfast show Newstalk Breakfast lost 4,000 listeners .

online newspapers implementing paywalls , rte going bankrupt , all because of biased reporting , doesn't need to be like this , if the mainstream press decided they were going to approach issues from 100% neutral point of view , more people would tune in and as a result they could use advertising to cover costs .
#
liveline was a disgrace on Friday , I'm wondering was Nigel Farage actually defamed in one of the songs on that show . complete political bias once again from the national broadcaster
#
To Convince an electorate that holding second referendums is perfectly normal takes some work .

To further convince them not only to vote in favour but to vote for the political parties that supported the second referendum is AMAZING .

There is no doubt propaganda works .

Nice one Roy.We always have dinner together, our dining table is our boardroom. Many subjects come up,and this is healthy for a family.Lots of sport, going to Irish Culture events.I spend many Saturdays finding out what is going on in my city. Many people complain about living a groundhog day life, yet continue on a path to an almost vegetative state.I am nearly fifty, but my lust for new ideas shows no signs of waning.Turn off the TV,and have a look at the real world,it is full of adventure. Thanks Roy.

Thankfully this news is raising MANY eyebrows internationally. Many in the UK & the United States who are of Irish origin are unhappy that the Irish are last in many decisions made by the EU owned Irish government. Perhaps the Irish Diaspora might just be able to shame the GIVE EVERYTHING TO THE EU political class here in Ireland. We live in hope!
