O'Sullivan through to face Selby at Scottish Open

Ronnie O'Sullivan booked a quarter-final against Mark Selby with a 4-2 win over Joe Perry at the Scottish Open.

O'Sullivan had two centuries in beating Martin Gould 4-0 on a busy day in Glasgow and added a 106 against Perry.

World champion Judd Trump sealed a 4-2 win over Graeme Dott, who earlier beat UK Championship winner Ding Junhui 4-0.

Scot John Higgins recorded his 776th career century, moving clear of Stephen Hendry into second in the all-time list, but lost 4-2 to Jack Lisowski.

Four-time world champion, Higgins, 44, was never behind in his 4-3 win over Andrew Higginson earlier in the day, though it was quick-firing Lisowski who went through in the evening to an eagerly awaited contest with another rapid player, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, who beat Neil Robertson 4-0.

Perry had won only two of his previous 18 encounters with O'Sullivan and after a missed black off its spot, his illustrious opponent took the opening frame with a clearance of 87.

World number 16 Perry took the next on the black and was 51 ahead in frame three only for O'Sullivan to take it with an 84 clearance.

Aided by a fluke down the length of the table on the final pink, Perry compiled the highest break of the tournament with a 139 to level at 2-2 but O'Sullivan punished errors to seal his 11th successive victory against him with runs of 69 and the concluding 106.

World champion Trump, who described his 4-1 victory over James Wattana earlier in the day as "terrible", was twice pegged back by the determined former world champion Dott before taking the final two frames.

Trump, beaten in the third round by 54-year-old Nigel Bond at the UK Championship, will face David Gilbert next.

Defending champion Mark Allen had no problem progressing at Emirates Arena, beating Elliot Slessor 4-1 and finishing with a 104 to beat Chris Wakelin 4-1, leaving the Northern Irishman with a match against Scott Donaldson in the last eight.
