Gemma O'Doherty talks to Robert Pye who predicted the Banking Collapse in Ireland
Robert Pye was a civil servant in the Department of Finance from 1979 to 2010 until he was forced out .
In 2004 , Mr Pye began warning senior officials in the Department of Finance that the Country faced a Banking & Economic Collapse if things didn't change .
In June 2004 , he wrote a paper entitled "preparing for the coming economic shock and its aftermath" . He circulated the paper to senior management in the department of finance , Mr Pye said his paper fell on deaf ears so In July he sent another paper entitled "preparing for turbulence in the world markets" which also fell on deaf ears . Mr Pye continued to warn senior officials about an impending Banking collapse but was ignored . In 2008 , the Banking system in Ireland finally collapsed with Ango Irish Bank the first to go .
In 2011 , the year after Mr Pye was forced out of the Department of Finance he wrote an article in the Irish Times about how Ireland has been sold off to pay for the mistakes of Bankers and Government Officials .
There is considerable truth in the view that Ireland is no longer a sovereign state but an impoverished suburb of brussels , 4 million people are mired deep in a collective debt that is not of their own making while persons unknown decide just how much we owe and the terms and conditions under which this ever expanding debt must be repaid , we have lost control of our finances have only a marginal role in determining the key paramaters of public policy and are being compelled by international institutions to hand over our national assets at fire sale prices . At least the vikings focused on coastal areas but their latter day counterparts are ransacking the nation from end to end and unless we stand our ground a modern day equivallent of the battle of Clontarf , they will take everything thats worth taking
