Kildare Street Dublin , Free Speech Supporters on left side of road , counter protesters on right A Free Speech Rally in Dublin was met by counter protesters this afternoon as both sides converged on Dail Eireann in a tense standoff . The Free Speech Rally organised by the Yellow Vest Ireland , Renua Ireland , Irish Freedom Party and Direct Democracy Ireland numbering some two hundred supporters waved tricolour flags and held signs criticising government plans to introduce new speech laws next year . Clare Lodge in Ennis will become the third Direct Provision Centre in County Clare . The Department of Justice has confirmed that the hotel will re-open its doors to asylum seekers with 65 adults set to arrive shortly in the town. The two other centres in Clare are Knockalisheen in Meelick , a state owned centre run by Aramark ltd accommodating 275 asylum seekers and the King Thomond Hotel lisdoonvarna owned by Marcus White accommodating 115 asylum seekers which opened its doors last summer despite a vote by local residents against the centre (197 votes against to 15 in favour) . In August , A Department of Public Expenditure report "Direct Provision : Overview of current accommodation expenditure" indicated that upwards of โ‚ฌ120 million would be spent this year on the Direct Provision Accommodation , up 50% on 2018 . The Figures show that there are 7,018 asylum seekers being accommodated around Ireland at the end of June , - 6,082 asylum seekers in 39 permanent centres and 936 in emergency accommodation (B&Bs , rented housing etc) , the figure is forecast to increase to approximately 7,700 people by the
