UK : New Poll shows 61% support for ban on illegal migrants claiming Asylum amid surge in channel crossings

A YouGov poll of 1,700 adults has shown a majority of three to one people want to change the countries asylum laws so that migrants who arrive in the UK illegally through a safe country such as France would be barred from claiming asylum . Of those surveyed , a majority of four to one were also in favour of deporting failed asylum applicants. The findings come amid a surge in migrant boat crossings accross the English Channel from France to Dover . So far this year , 5,034 illegal migrants have crossed the English Channel to Dover from France with 110 migrants

Freedom of Expression in Ireland under threat from growing number of NGOs

There is a big push now in Ireland to silence dissenting views especially if those views are in any way conservative and dont align with globalist goals . Non governmental organisations (NGOs) with funding from the EU commission and various government departments are creating an Iron Curtain to control public discourse and silence peoples genuine concerns on a range of issues . An example of this in action is happening this Saturday in Smithfield where an NGO called 'Le Cheile' is holding a Public Rally dubbed "Rally against hate and division .. taking a stand against the toxic rhetoric of the far right" . While Le Cheile doesn't give any

Soccer Fans are justified in booing BLM Knee gesture given BLM communist links and violence

On Tuesday , The Irish Soccer team under Stephen Kenny were booed by Hungarian Fans after the team took part in the Knee gesture of the Black Lives Matter Movement in a match against Hungary in Budapest . While some people see the knee gesture as a symbol of Anti Racism , others look at the origins of the Black Lives Matter movement and its links to Communism . For example , BLM founder Patrisse Cullors began her political career under a man named Eric Mann who was a leading figure in a self described communist revolutionary group called the weather underground , Mann had been sentenced to two years in prison on

Broadcasting Authority - "equal allocation of airtime not necessary to achieve fairness"
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has rejected a complaint made by European Elections Candidate Dr Fidelma Healy Eames relating to her exclusion from two RTE Live debates during the European Elections last year .

In her complaint to the BAI , Dr Fidelma Healy Eames said she was excluded from the Week in Politics and Prime Time European Elections debates (broadcast 28th April and 21st May 2019) relating to the Midlands North West Constituency and was only given a 1 minute pre-recorded clip to convey herself to the electorate which meant she was not able to reveal her ability to debate amounting to unfair treatment. Dr Eames complained that the criteria used by RTÉ in choosing candidates was unfair, discriminatory and failed to be transparent. As a former Senator, she argued that the broadcaster should have considered the Seanad when setting out the criteria , and that the the format conveyed a message that the candidates involved in the live debates were more important and were more entitled to a chance of winning seats than those involved in the pre-recorded segment .

In its defence , RTE said there is no statutory or regulatory requirement that all candidates in an election must be treated equally in terms of airtime . It said it applied criteria which was based on past electoral record to achieve a fair and objective representation for panel inclusion. Eight out of 17 candidates for Midlands North West qualified for inclusion in the live programme for their constituency, those that were not involved in the live debate were offered the chance to be included by way of one-minute video clip and Dr Eames was included in Prime Time and The Week in Politics by way of a pre-recorded item , featured on a Drivetime panel and was represented online and in all programmes that covered the Midlands North West constituency.

In its ruling , the Broadcasting Authority said that .. "equal allocation of airtime is not necessary to achieve fairness"

There is no requirement for broadcasters to include all candidates in a broadcast . Equal allocation of airtime is not necessary to achieve fairness .The criteria drawn up by the broadcaster was based on past electoral performance and the Committee noted that the broadcaster provided clear rationale for the approach. The Committee was of the view that the criteria adopted when choosing participants in the programmes was carefully considered and applied in a manner which was equitable and fair

The BAI concluded its ruling by saying it would be desirable for broadcasters to make selection criteria for debates publicly available although not a requirement of the Broadcasting Code .

Nice article Charlie,

I suppose in an ideal world the national Broadcaster would / Should include ALL!.

Though I suspect they (RTE) favour those paying or likely to pay to support them. In other words FF, FG, SF and so on are likely to get the votes to form a government, thus likely to financially support RTE.

Democracy has little to do with it, nor for that matter fairness!. It's pure self preservation as almost proven by the latest bulk of € Money set to be sent their way, with the announcement that RTE will be availing of the government’s wage subsidy scheme!.

To allow airtime share "based on past electoral performance" is in it's self almost admitting to it!.
^
yeah , i dont agree with the BAI ruling , i think the national broadcaster in particular has a duty to ensure equal airtime to all election candidates
^
i agree with mick , those studios are huge , no reason you cant fit 16 candidates in there. Have a stopwatch and only allow each candidate so many minutes to answer before you cut them off . this would be fair in my opinion
^
1 minute airtime for any election candidate is an insult , i dont see how the BAI can class that as fair while the other candidates are getting hours .
^
i think she is right in a way , is there any reason RTE cant fit more candidates into the studio ? , if they dont allow established politicians to WAFFLE for ages , more candidates would be able to take part and everyone would be happy

I'd appeal to all decent people to really think carefully before allowing yourself to be used as a vessel for these movements.
