Fianna Fail to grant residency to 30 000 illegal migrants
The Bill involves creating an ongoing scheme whereby illegal immigrants including those convicted of prison sentences of up to 12 months will be allowed to "reside within the State, enter employment ,engage in a course of education, training , travel to and from the State , medical care and social welfare benefits "
Every Scheme will be published in at least two daily newspapers and all illegal Migrants who are living in Ireland for 22 out of the 24 month period prior to the annoucement of a scheme will be eligible to participate . The Minister at his discretion can waver this period and also ignore any false documents that an applicant has submitted .
Fianna Fail should have no shortage of takers for their scheme .As this Video below shows thousands of illegal Migrants are awaiting in the French Town of Calais to get to places that are soft touches on immigration . The People in this video try to board Lorries destined for the UK . Do we want to send a message to these people that Ireland is a soft touch , if so , it is most likely we will become an attractive location for these people .
Fianna Fail Justice Spokesman Niall Collins says :
I think there is broad agreement accross all the parties in relation to the principles in it .
The rationale of this is that it is the right thing to do.
There are 25,000 to 30,000 people in Ireland who are undocumented. Do you ignore the problem or try to deal with the problem
However , One would have to query this logic , how are we dealing with the problem of illegal Migrants by sending a message to the whole wide world that being illegal in Ireland is ok , and if you are illegal we will reward you under this new scheme .
Surely , "the right thing to do" would be to recruit more Gardai to deal with the problem of illegal Migrants , to have better border controls and better customs controls in place . To enforce the laws of the land instead of watering them down .
As it stands , our public services cannot even cope with the existing population , why would anybody want to make the problem even worse by opening the floodgates to illegal Migrants .
