Fingal Candidate Gemma O'Doherty blasts Grand Hotel Malahide for shunning pro life group
Independent Fingal Candidate Gemma O'Doherty has called on people to boycott Grand Hotel Malahide over its decision to cancel the meeting of local christian pro life group 'Fingal Witness' which was booked for Wednesday Night.

Ms O'Doherty said the Hotel cancelled the meeting publicly on its twitter account without informing the organisers first . The hotel is reported to have received phone calls from people opposed to the meeting taking place.

Ms O'Doherty explained via her Facebook :

when I first announced my candidacy in Fingal i was approached by a number of pro life groups in the area because I'm probably the only pro life candidate and the only candidate coming from a christian heritage approach .

The local christian pro life group in malahide [fingal witness] contacted me and we're very keen to meet with me . This organisation Fingal Witness said lets hold a meeting . It was booked , they were reassured and credit card details were taken . The hotel contacted Fingal witness and said that they had got phone calls but they had not made any decision to cancel . I read online that it had been cancelled and I rang the organiser and he said no the hotel didn't tell me that so then I went onto the hotels twitter account and they had announced it publicly. Did not even have the decency to ring the organiser . How could you ever step foot in a hotel like that again . I'm asking every one of you to boycott that corrupt hotel . The grand hotel in Malahide .

Ms O'Doherty added that the Meeting will now take place outside the Hotel .

from what i understand , fingal witness are doing great work , to think that any Hotel would shun people because of their beliefs in this day and age is quite disturbing to say the least
^
worse than the black and tans these hotels . this is why its so important we protect freedom of speech .
^
the iron curtain strikes again . we already know of the cosy relationship that exists between the gov and hotel owners . direct provision being one of them . this is censorship plain and simple .

i guess this is the governments way of punishing Galway for Oughterard .They are putting their foot down and saying to galway that resistance is futile , we dont care what you think , we'll put direct provision centres anywhere and everywhere we like and nobody can stop us . thats basically the message thats coming out of this move.

Nigeria is a Safe country with 6 million Tourists a year , why is the government spending all our taxes on asylum seekers , most of these people are only pretending to be refugees . We have our own bills to pay , our own mortgages , why are we paying for houses for the whole world , anyone who wants to come here we have to pay for them , its disgraceful

There's definitely a racial agenda to this , in the first 3 years of the 1990s less than 100 people a year claimed asylum in Ireland . On 1 Novemeber 1993 , The Treaty on European Union came into force . Two years later , thousands of asylum seekers started to arrive in Ireland from Nigeria . This had to be ORGANISED . Somebody was organising these people to come to Ireland . AND WHY ? thats the big question . It all goes back to the vision of a man name Richard Kalergi , a foun

why cant they do this for homeless people ?. Most asylum seekers coming to ireland are coming from Safe countries like albania , georgia , south africa , nigeria . others on here have said its a disgrace that our own homeless people are being killed on the streets and nobody cares . ah sure their only white irish , the dirt on your shoe , who cares , this seems to be the attitude of government . its shocking .

if people have the money , they should book a room for a homeless person even for a couple of nights . any one of us could be that person , sitting all alone on the street worrying where the next meal will come from or where your life is going
