Galway Locals Rally against Direct Provision Centre
A large protest was held outside the Connemara Gateway Hotel in Oughterard Galway today by locals opposed to using the Hotel as a Direct Provision Centre for asylum seekers . The Protest follows a public meeting in the town on Wednesday addressed by the Minister of State Seán Kyne who told the crowd that the government is looking to open a number of Direct Provision centres around the West of Ireland .
One of the Organisers of today's Rally Patrick Curran has called for volunteers to offer “up to half a day a week” for protests. So far, more than 170 people have signed up to the Facebook Campaign page - 'Stop Connemara Gateway Hotel Direct Provision Centre'

Bizarrely , Most come through Dublin Airport and for some reason are allowed to claim asylum . They should be refused entry , how many safe countries do you bypass on a journey from any of these countries to ireland , where do they get the money for such expensive flights . They are not genuine and when someone is not genuine they take up space in the system away from people who are genuinely in need of protection
