Huge Pro Life March in Paris - Sunday 20th January
This years March saw up to 50,000 participants in what the organisers describe as a rejuvented and mobilised movement in the face of Government Plans to remove the right of Health Professionals to Freedom of Conscience as well as liberalisation of bioethics laws such as embryo research and eugenic policies as well as the introduction of euthanasia .
Organisers say the the Focus of this Years March is on the freedom of conscience of health professionals , which is threatened by proposed legislation and statements by politicians with a Bill currently before the Senate that would eliminate the right of health professionals, doctors, midwives, nurses and medical auxiliaries to refuse to practice or participate in an abortion.
The Organisers have set a number of Demands :
We demand the implementation of public health policies that protect human life from conception to natural death .
We demand that the prohibition of euthanasia in France be firmly and explicitly maintained . We want everyone to be assured of being accompanied and supported in the last moments of their life by society and the medical profession. And not that she is threatened with death by those who should have taken her hand.
We call for a revision of the legislation on medically assisted procreation (PMA) that leads to the selection of embryos and their mass destruction . We do not want the human embryo to be considered an object that can be produced for pleasure and manipulated for the purpose of utility.
We demand the sacralization of the freedom of conscience of doctors who refuse to practice acts contrary to medicine
In our soul and conscience, we must refuse the inevitability of abortion. We want to rebuild a society where a pregnancy is supported, where difficult maternities are accompanied, where doctors are there to treat them. We want a political community where the professions are respected, where the medical gesture does not turn against the life of the unborn child.
