Taoiseach made special plea for free movement of Agri workers to Ireland during Covid19 crisis
Just days after the Taoiseach made a public statement describing how he felt "discomfort" at the arrival of 189 Bulgarian fruit pickers on a chartered flight from Sofia to Dublin  , RTE's Europe editor Tony Connelly has revealed that Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Agriculture Minister Michael Creed had made special requests for free movement of Migrant Agri Workers into Ireland during the Covid-19 outbreak at a Video Conference of EU Agriculture Ministers held on March 25th and 26th.

Writing on Twitter , RTE reporter Tony Connelly stated :

On the ongoing controversy over Keelings and Bulgarian workers, it's worth noting the following:

The ability for migrant seasonal agriculture workers to continue harvesting fruit and vegetables in other member states was specifically requested by EU leaders , including the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar during a video conference on March 26th

The previous day the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed also made a strong appeal during a virtual meeting of EU agriculture ministers for the continued free movement of labour and the need to avoid any disruption to agrifood supply chains through border closures.

During the meeting Michael Creed, Ireland’s Minister for Agriculture, said the need to fight the spread of the coronavirus had to be “underpinned” by the “continuity of food production and supply across the European Union.”

According to a speaking note, seen by RTE News, Mr Creed highlighted the importance of maintaining the free movement of labour which was “particularly important in ensuring the continued effective functioning of agri-food supply chains.”

He called on the Commission to ensure that “border checks do not unnecessarily disrupt the free movement of goods or labour,” especially when it came to agri-food supply chains.

 - RTE Europe editor Tony Connelly

The news follows a statement made by the Taoiseach on Friday , describing how he 'shared the discomfort' of the chief medical officer at the arrival of such a large number of people during the covid-19 crisis and asked for an urgent review of the current rules and procedures.

I share the discomfort expressed by the chief medical officer about the report of a large number of people coming to Ireland earlier this week to work in the horticulture sector. I have therefore asked for an urgent review of the current rules and procedures to be carried out over the weekend

The Company at the centre of the controversy Keelings Fruit Ltd told RTE news that the workers are in isolation for 14 days as part of HSE guidelines on Coronavirus . The company wouldn't confirm if the workers were in Single rooms or group sharing or how much money it pays the Bulgarian workers .

i've seen learner buses around Dublin filled with foreign nationals . Irish Workers are being replaced . the sad thing is , bus drivers , train drivers etc will keep voting for the people who are pushing all this .
^
this is why our children cant get decent jobs here because of companies like keelings are importing cheaper workers from abroad
^
they must be paying buttons . the workers are probably all cooked up in the same rooms too , irish workers would do the jobs if the company paid them an honest decent wage . this is whats wrong with ireland now , everyone wants something for nothing
^
this is why its so hard to trust them , they say one thing but do another .
^
credit must be given to Tony Connelly for bringing this to peoples attention , he could have easily buried this fact . the whole thing disgusts me like so many others , these companies place no value on a person's life . how much is an apple worth to them , a human life

this is indoctrination . plain and simple . you can see some of the children are not happy . all these slogans like love is love have been used by the radical left for years . yes many of these children will go on to become activists for the lgbt movement which is the intended goal but some will end up resenting the school for what its doing , brainwashing them

should be a private matter , if you got the vaccine why worry about someone who hasn't because your presumably protected anyway so it makes no difference . I myself didn't get it but thats my personal choice . I just didn't want it but I respect other peoples right to make up their own mind on what suits them
