Barrister sues Asylum seeker group MASI for defamation
Ms McGurk is suing the Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland for defamation
A Barrister and Senior Counsel ,  Ms Una McGurk has begun High Court proceedings against the Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland (MASI) and the group’s co-founders Lucky Khambule , Donnah Vuma and spokesperson Bulelani Mfacos.

Ms McGurk was a Judicator on the International Protection Appeals Tribunal (IPAT) at the time, a government body responsible for making decisions on Asylum Application appeals .

In a video posted on youtube , Ms McGurk said .. "I feel i have been seriously defamed on social media , as a consequence I have just issued high court proceedings for defamation . open season for Una McGurk is now over"

The case stems from a media flurry following her attendance at an Anti Lockdown rally last August . Ms McGurk was invited to speak at the rally by the Health Freedom Ireland movement on the topic of wearing Face Masks and PCR covid testing . 

Following the rally Ms McGurk said she was the subject of a targeted campaign against her .. "because I spoke at a public rally organised by health freedom Ireland , Dublin Lord Mayor Hazel Chu , Minister Roderic O'Gorman and Minister for Justice Helen Mcentee publicly called for an urgent investigation into me as a member of IPAT , this caused a storm of negative publicity .. followed by trolling on social media and nasty emails sent to IPAT"

While the specific grounds of Ms McGurks case against MASI is not yet known , the organisation had linked her to white supremacy and was quite vocal in demanding her resignation .

 

In a subsequent video posted by Ms McGurk on her youtube channel , she hit out at what she described as "instant judgement"  and "cancel culture" creeping into Irish Society as well as intolerance for different opinions ... "Diversity of opinion unless it mirrors government or establishment policy is no longer considered politically correct or acceptable , instead of having a culture of acceptance of a wide range of diverse views and opinions we now appear to have instant judgement unfairly passed by those who pander to a narrow mediocracy with controlling agendas and a preference for cancel culture , we must not allow this practice of cancel culture to creep into Irish society" - she explained .  
    
Earlier this week , a spokesperson for The Department of Justice said it wouldn't be renewing Ms McGurks contract as a Judicator on the Asylum Appeals Tribunal .. "The Department can confirm that a decision has been taken not to re-appoint the person concerned to the Tribunal, and the person concerned has been advised accordingly" .

its good that this woman is standing up but what about all those people who dont have the resources to defend their good name in court and are walked on by these type of groups , and yes charlie , the ordinary joe soap will end up paying their bill if they lose in court , its always the way with these groups , they get everything handed to them for free
