A Series of Interviews with Asylum Seekers staying at the Dolcain House Office Complex in Clondalkin County Dublin.
The Office Block which is currently housing 187 Men from Countries such as Georgia, Albania, Algeria, South Africa, Nigeria and Somalia and Zimbabwe is being investigated by Planning Enforcement at South Dublin County following complaints by locals that the State did not obtain Planning Permission for residential use. The office complex which is owned by the McGrath Group was the subject of three previous planning refusals for residential use with An Bord Pleanala raising concerns last November of Air and Noise pollution resulting from the adjacent asphalt production plant.
In this first interview of a series of Interviews, I interview a Somalian Man living in the Office Block . According to the Man, the top Nationality staying at the centre are from Georgia, others are from Albania, Algeria and South Africa. The Man tells me he had lived in Sweden for a year and had already applied for asylum in Sweden before coming to Ireland to claim asylum here also.
