At St Marys , Pupils are encouraged to speak in their home languages through a language project called the languages connect us project . Eadaoin Kelly , School Principal at St Mary's explains :
Our children come from a really diverse community and all over the world , we have children who speak over 30 languages and who come from countries all over the world or their families come from countries all over the world
Because our school is so diverse we do a lot of work around cultivating children's home languages and ensuring that they are proud of their languages and where they come from and where their families come from

St Mary's Primary School is classed as a DEIS Band 1 School by the State , (DEIS is a system used by the state to measure disadvantage) , the more disadvantaged the more benefits offered by the State , number 1 is the most , therefore Pupils at St Mary's are entitled to a range of benefits other pupils dont receive , such as low class size numbers 19:1 , free meals (breakfast and lunch) as well as food sent home if needed,free books , home support services and extra educational supports. St Marys is also a participant in the Yellow Flag Schools Programme and a member of the EU Commission's Erasmus Plus project , programmes aimed at promoting EU identity in schools.
