Chairman of Catholic School forced to resign over pro life leaflets
June 2013 - Eddie Shaw , Chairman of Harold Primary School in Dún Laoghaire in Dublin - a Catholic School founded by the sisters of mercy , was forced to resign after he sent home some leaflets advertising a Pro Life Event .

Leaflet sent home to parents



Following complaints by a small number of parents , the School issued a letter of apology to all parents who felt upset at the leaflet . 

Below , Letter of Apology from School Principal to Parents  

  

Some parents were still not happy and Mr Shaw was subsequently forced to resign his position as chairman of the Catholic School .
 

after careful consultation and reflection, submitted my resignation as Chairman of the Board of the Harold School with immediate effect.

I want to repeat my unreserved apology to teachers and parents for the deep distress and understandable upset caused by my action. The responsibility for this action was mine, and mine alone.

I have been involved in the school in a personal and voluntary capacity for the last 30 years and have always had the best interests of the school at heart.
