So what would responsible borders look like ?
At its most basic level responsible borders means ensuring people enter the Country 'through the proper channels' . What are the proper channels
For people outside the EU , that means applying for a work visa . The person is able to show they have a Job lined up that cant be filled by a domestic worker , will be able to support themselves financially and wont increase the burden on social services .
The same approach would be good for people inside the EU also - is it unreasonable to ask someone to show they can support themselves financially before going to live in another Country ?? What are bad channels
The bad channels in Ireland , primarily involve the Asylum System .
Right now , anyone from a country outside the EU , can arrive at Dublin Airport , say they are an asylum seeker and based on that testimony alone are housed straight away in one of the many Accommodation Centres around the Country .Solution
People claiming asylum at our Ports have their claims decided at our Ports . An office is established at our Ports where claims will be heard and decided on in a matter of hours . If a claim is considered false , the person is refused entry into the Country and returned to the Country where they arrived from .
Such a system would dramatically cut down on the costs associated with asylum accommodation and would ease tensions in our local communities as locals would be assured that the people arriving in their communities had been vetted . Back to Basics
There is nothing unreasonable or extreme about asking for sensible responsible borders .
Responsible borders benefit everyone including migrants as it guarantees everyone a decent standard of living and a healthy society to live in free from societal unrest and tension.
Sadly , there is a concerted effort underway in Ireland to demonize ordinary folk asking for responsible borders as 'far right' . Such an approach is not only irresponsible behaviour but it is fueling the fires of division and it must be called out . email@example.com
