Teacher Enoch Burke has been incarcerated since September 5th at Mountjoy Prison in Dublin
Jailed Teacher Enoch Burke who has entered his third week behind bars over a row with School management over transgender pronouns has been moved to the Progression Unit in Mountjoy Prison where his new neighbours include criminals such as alleged Kinahan gang member Declan Brady who is currently facing a charge before the Special Criminal Court of helping a criminal gang murder a father-of-four five years ago.
The High Court has also ordered the teacher to pay the costs of his Schools legal action against him amounting to some 50,000 euro.
Teacher Burke was jailed on September 5th after refusing to abide by a High Court Injunction prohibiting him from attending for work at Wilson's Hospital School where he had been a teacher for 4 years but was suspended over his refusal to use the preferred pronouns of a trans identified student.
Since his incarceration in Mountjoy prison, teacher Burke has made international headlines and drawn much support among the wider public with regular protests calling for his release taking place in Dublin.
