Proposals for a Large Offshore Wind Farm located 10km from the Coastline of Dublin and Wicklow have been unveiled to the public .
The project named 'The Dublin Array project' will consist of 45 to 61 supersize Wind Turbines ranging in height from 240 to 310 metres tall and will stretch between Howth in Dublin to Bray in Wicklow . The turbines will have a total power capacity between 600 and 900 MW . The development will also include a large onshore Power Station at Carrickmines or Poolbeg . The Dublin Array project is a joint venture of Tralee based company Saorgus Energy and German Multinational RWE which operates some of the largest coal-fired power stations in Europe. The company says it expects the wind farm to be operational by 2026 subject to planning approval .
Wicklow's Bray Head will be closest to the Wind Farm at 10.1km to the nearest Turbine , followed by Dalkey's vico road and colliemore harbour at 10.4km to nearest Turbine , followed by Killiney Hill (10.9km) , Dun Laoghaire's harbour east pier (12 km) and Howth Head's Martello tower at 12.1km .
Under the government's National Energy & Climate Plan (NECP) 2021–2030 , it is proposed that up to 70% of our electricity will come from renewable sources by 2030.

During seasonal migrations, huge numbers of Birds cross our seas at night and at a low altitudes. we need to look at alternatives to wind farms , someone here mentioned solar power but Wave power is another new development .

we need to look at alternatives to wind farms , someone here mentioned solar power but Wave power is another new development .
Most Data Centres require around 240 MW of power , so the Dublin Array wind farm would power about 3 Data Centres .
Is it worth it , The negative visual impact on our beautiful country and coastline from all these wind turbines simply to power data centres.
There has to be a better way , I think we need to look at other options like Solar power etc.
