Letters : Shocking case of murdered Pensioner Rose Hanrahan shows why migrants must be vetted

The absolutely horrific case of 78 year old Pensioner Rose Hanrahan from Limerick who was murdered in her own home by Romanian man Alexandru Iordache just one day after he landed in Ireland shows why we need to vet migrants arriving in Ireland.
Alexandru Iordache had 29 previous convictions including eight from Ireland and also had convictions from the UK, France and Romania for theft and robbery.
Yet Iordache, an extremely dangerous man was allowed to freely wander the streets of Ireland like he hadn't a care in the world resulting in the murder of a lovely lady who was well liked in her community.
Rose Hanrahan would be alive today if it wasn't for the careless policies of our Government which refuses to vet people or do background checks on them prior to allowing them into Ireland.
I'm angry writing this because Rose Hanrahan could be any of us , she could be your mother, your grandmother, your sister.
For the welfare of our families and our children we need to talk about these things . We need to introduce a system of vetting in Ireland as a matter of urgency.
