Thousands of illegal migrants to be granted residency under government proposals
The Minister for Justice Helen McEntee TD has announced a scheme to grant residency to thousands of illegal migrants living in Ireland .

Under the proposals those living illegally in the state for 4 years or 3 years in the case of families will be granted residency including unrestricted access to the labour market .

The Department of Justice expects the final draft of the scheme to be brought before cabinet in September and ready to accept applications by the end of the year in line with Minister McEntee’s Justice Plan 2021 .

The scheme will operate under the executive powers of the Minister for Justice who will today meet with NGOs  , employer organisations, trade unions and stakeholders to agree details of the scheme further .

Commenting on the scheme , Mr McEntee said .. " I look forward to engaging with all key stakeholders to present our plans and to hear their views as we consider the final criteria to be included under the Scheme. Their valuable insights will help us to achieve our goal of providing a scheme to cover every eligible undocumented person and their family members living in the country and to deliver it in an accessible and efficient manner"

The scheme follows plans announced by Minister Roderic O'Gorman in february where migrants claiming asylum in Ireland will be given a house after 4 months and receive an income support payment similar to the supplementary welfare allowance and will be eligible for a driving licence and bank account on arrival .

rewarding illegal migration sends out all the wrong messages . most people abide by the law and go through the proper channels . People who dont should never be rewarded , whether its illegal irish living abroad or illegals here . Its WRONG and shouldn't be rewarded

Independence Day 2022- Unlike the PUBLIC SERVANTS TODAY, they were not Criminals that gave us CONSTITUTION,FREEDOM,AND A
SOVEREIGN GOVERNMENT....do you have to think about it?
^
Amnesty for illegal migrants is also for crime committed against IRISH CITIZENS AND STATE.McEntee and govt does not regard IRISH CITIZENS or constitution as valid STAKEHOLDERS in this debate. So,ask
WHAT IS THE POINT OF GOVT and their
DISMISSAL OF THE LAWS THAT THEY CREATED...oh yeah..just for Irish consumption...paddyeffinwhackery
^
will there be any tds challenging this ? what about employers hiring illegal migrants , are they going to get away it , will they be given an amnesty under the law . if something is Illegal the way to deal with it is through enforcement of the law not by giving in to lobby groups with political agendas to break down Ireland's immigration system completely

I never knew him only of his political party identity ireland but its a difficult road for people when they voice political beliefs that go against the narrative in Ireland. I recently saw a left-wing group (@IrlagainstFash) actually celebrating getting people fired from their jobs because of the person's political beliefs while at the same time banging on about 'workers rights' and 'the working class' and 'wo
