Phillip Schofield story shows us gay people can live happy with opposite sex

Letter to Editor 16 September 2020 They say Love is more than just physical attraction . In February of this year , BBC presenter Phillip Schofield announced publicly that he was gay . Schofield had been married to his wife Stephanie for 27 years and had two daughters at the time of the announcement . Yesterday it was reported , he was converting the wifes garage into a Bachelor Pad and would remain in the family home which is worth some 2.6 million . The Scholfield story shows us that while gay people might be sexually attracted to the same sex , physical attraction and love are two

Covid-19 recovery rates hidden from public

Letter to Editor 12 Sept 2020 Every day in Ireland , the overall total of confirmed Covid-19 cases and Deaths is read out in our daily news Bulletins . Many people are wrongly led to believe that this is the number of people who currently have the Virus right now but actually it is the number of people who tested positive for the virus since the very start of the pandemic at the end of March and many of these people have since recovered and no longer have the virus . Unfortunately , the number of people who have the Virus "right now" is NOT KNOWN because

From an Irish ex pat - thoughts on Brexit and BBC bias

Letter to Editor 31/01/2020 Hello good people. I am a Brit ex pat, presently resident in Brasil, where sadly Guinness is hard to come by. (hee hee) Born of Ulsterman Father and Dublin born Mother. Mixed religion. Aged 63 I witnessed many of the 'Troubles' in the North. I used to spend my school summer holidays on my Uncles farm in County Down. How times have changed. I too complained to the BBC about its' coverage of Brexit and its' so,so,so PRO remain stance. So much did I complain, I am now banned from complaining? The main reason the BBC banned me was

The Fiona Gregg story - The sad story of a Mother whos children were taken from her by a failed system

In November 2013 , Gardai issued a nationwide alert for a missing Roscommon woman and her three children . They were later found safe and well in Fermanagh . The Woman's name was Fiona Gregg . This is the last time Fiona would be together with her children as a family . Here is Fiona's full story in her own words . I moved to county Roscommon in 2008 as a lone parent with two of my children. I qualified as an EMT but shortly after that I got ill with gallstones. When the doctor advised me I'd need to have my gall bladder removed, I

UK migration watchdog warns of record numbers of illegal migrants crossing English Channel
record numbers of illegal migrants crossing English Channel from France to Dover

Migration Watch UK has warned of record numbers of illegal migrants sailing accross the English Channel into Dover .

The watchdog said more than 3,700 illegal migrants have arrived in boats since the start of the year with 3,300 arriving during the Covid-19 lockdown and 1,300 arriving in July alone.

The agency expects the number of illegal migrants crossing the channel to reach 7,500 by the end of 2020 despite the UK paying £114 million to France since 2015 to stop illegal immigration.

Some 2,400 crossings have been made in the first six months of this year compared to 600 for the same period in 2019.

The worst single day so far was July 30th when a fleet of boats carrying 202 illegal migrants was met by UK border patrol .

Dover is chosen by the Migrants due to its close proximity to Calais in France where many of the migrant boats set sail from (some 20.7 miles) .

The agency has said that just 5-7% of those arriving accross the channel have been returned to France . The total returned during 2019 is estimated at 125 out of 1,892 (under 7%).

A 2020 Deltapoll of the British Public found that 60% of UK people think their government is not doing enough to stop the problem while an Ipsos poll (august 2019) found that 60% of people want those arriving illegally accross the channel to be removed.

Meanwhile , the UK Home Office has beefed up its spending on Asylum Accommodation . In September 2019 the Home Office announced it had awarded contracts worth £4.0 billion to three providers – Clearsprings Ready Homes, Mears Group and Serco to provide accommodation for asylum seekers arriving in the UK over the next 10 years.
