US Supreme Court overturns law that required States to permit abortions
US Supreme Court ruling means States are no longer legally required to permit abortion
The US Supreme Court has struck out a 1973 abortion ruling (Roe v. Wade) which required all states to permit abortions .

In a Final Ruling issued on Friday Justice Samuel Alito wrote that Roe v. Wade was .. "egregiously wrong and deeply damaging"  .."was on a collision course with the Constitution from the day it was decided" ... "must be overruled" and that the courts decision "returns the issue of abortion to the legislative bodies" of individual States.

Roe was also egregiously wrong and deeply damaging . Roe was on a collision course with the Constitution from the day it was decided.

We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision

Our decision returns the issue of abortion to those legislative bodies

-  Justice Samuel Alito

The case to overturn the law was brought by Thomas E. Dobbs, a state health officer with the Mississippi State Department of Health after a local District Court refused to allow the State to introduce a bill that would ban abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The state of Mississippi appealed the decision to the Supreme Court in June 2020.

The ruling comes a month after a leaked draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito which indicated that the court was going to take this gigantic step. More than twenty states had prepared legislation, including thirteen with trigger laws, to strictly regulate abortion in advance of the expected decision.

Welcoming the Courts Decision , Lila Rose, President and Founder of Live Action, Americas leading Pro-Life Organisation invoked Gods blessing on people to see the value of every life and every child and said their work is just beginning :

Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Today Roe v Wade was overturned. May His merciful heart touch each of our hearts. To see the value of every life, every child. As we change law, May our hearts change too.

Within hours of the ruling , Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt triggered Missouri's anti-abortion law making Missouri the first American State to make abortion illegal , and In a statement posted online said that Millions of Lives would be saved moving forward.

Since taking office, I have always fought to protect the unborn. Because of our action today, millions of lives will be protected moving forward

-  Missouri's Attorney General Eric Schmitt

brilliant news from the US . lot of work to be done in Ireland , commies still in control but slowly change can happen.

SCOTUS made the right decision, these things should be up to individual states to decide. most states will probably ban it now which is good news for those waiting to be born.
