"We are the 90%"- Thousands Rally in Dublin demand reform of migration policy
Thousands of people attended a Rally in Dublin City Centre on Monday calling for changes to the government's current migration system
The protesters were calling for tighter controls to filter out fraudulent asylum seekers and for a system of vetting to be introduced to ensure the safety of local communities.
Some carried banners with the inscription .. "we are the 90% polled who disagree with government refugee policy" which made reference to a Virgin Media TV Poll in January which found that 90% of respondants were unhappy with government migration policy much to the shock of the presenter.
From Connolly Station, the procession made its way towards the Irish Times , Irish Independent and Newstalk where speakers took issue with recent media coverage describing people as "far-right".
Earlier this month, a Poll by the Sunday Independent found that 42% of the public think the media is.. "biased in favour of refugees and against those with concerns"
Chants of "leo leo leo .. out out out" and "House the Irish" reverberate in Dublin as thousands take part in protest demanding reform of Ireland's Immigration system.
