Top Oil Leinster GAA Post Primary Schools Senior Football A Final

Friday, 27th January 2017: Moate Community School, Westmeath v St Peters College, Wexford; OMoore Park, Portlaoise, 1.00pm

After 25 games which have taken place since last November, the Top Oil Leinster P.P. Schools Senior Football A Championship reaches a conclusion this Friday when Moate Community School and St Peters College contest the final at OMoore Park, Portlaoise.

This Westmeath v Wexford duel features two deserving finalists who progressed through some difficult tests against ambitious opponents.

For Moate Community School, it is an opportunity to join the illustrious roll of honour with a first ever title. The town previously welcomed home the cup when the Carmelite College dominated the championship with six titles in seven years between 1975 and 1981, and they also added three All-Ireland titles during that glorious spell.

St Peters College won their only previous title with a one point victory over Portarlington CBS in 1992, though they triumphed in the corresponding hurling championship on eight occasions and will compete in the hurling quarter-finals the weekend after next.

Moate Community School are managed by Peter Tormey and Jamie Gonoud, and include players from clubs in both Westmeath and Offaly. Chris Murphy and Brian Malone are in charge of St Peters College andseveral Wexford clubs will be represented on their starting 15.

Heres a look at how both schools reached the final:
