WATCH: Health and safety the priority at 2020 Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps
GAA.ie visited Portlaoise GAA club's 2020 Kellogg's GAA Cl Camp last week to see how the health and safety of the children participating has been prioritised this year.
"The number one priority this year more so than any other year is health and safety," Laois GAA Games Development Administrator, Jason Coffey, told GAA.ie
"What would be different today in comparison to other years obviously is when the parents come in there's hand sanitization everywhere.
"Coaches have their own cleaning equipment, the bags are segregated to each coach per week as you can see here behind us
when we go through it later. Each coach then remains with that group for the week."
All equipment used at the Kellogg's GAA Cl Camps is sterlised before every session.
"Previously we would have done a station rotation model whereas this year the coach stays with the group for the whole week including break times. Other than that, I suppose the precautions that we're taking is we're wearing our health masks when we're gowning up with the kids or when there's an injury or a laceration or a cut.
"The toilets then when they're used inside they're sprayed down and washed every single time after each child.
"One of the other health and safety processes that we have here on campus this week is each parent will drop their child to their designated pod and we have a pod laid out on each of the fields and every single morning the parent will show our coach the screenshot of their health screening questionnaire which confirms the health of the child and there's no symptoms of the Covid-19."
