Weekend's Club Championship preview

GAA

Club matches in both codes with significant implications continue this weekend throughout the county.

For full list of the fixtures click here.

FRIDAY

There is no shortage of interesting Friday evening action with Parnell Park providing the backdrop for a Dublin SFC clash between St Jude's and Na Fianna.

That promises to be a revealing match between two clubs, who remain eager to make an impact in a highly competitive environment.

Two fixtures in Roscommon will also be worth monitoring as Michael Glaveys, who embarked on an AIB Intermediate Championship run a few years ago, facing Oran.

Roscommon Gaels also play Elphin with a number of clubs intent on making a serious bid for silverware.

SATURDAY

A busy Saturday beckons too with the meeting of Naomh Conaill and Killybegs in the Donegal SFC set to attract a decent attendance.

Ballyboden St Enda's and Ballymun Kickhams will tussle at Parnell Park with a number of past and present Dublin stars involved.

With Colm O'Rourke installed as Meath senior manager players will be intent on impressing. Skyrne face Seneschalstown, while Simonstown Gaels.

In Monaghan, Castleblayney Faughs, the most prolific winners of the competition, will be striving to deliver a positive performance against Truagh, while Inniskeen and Latton is another game on the agenda.

Dan Shanahan is still making an impact for Lismore.

Dan Shanahan is still making an impact for Lismore.

St Faithleach's and Boyle in Roscommon will feature a number of top inter-county players, while the Sligo Championship meeting between Tubbercurry and Curry promises to be lively.

An attractive double header at Fraher Field on Saturday evening features two Waterford SHC preliminary quarter-finals.

With Dan Shanahan still relevant, Lismore will be hoping to defeat Clonea, following Passage's encounter against Fourmilewater.

At FBD Semple Stadium Hollycross/Ballycahill and Toomevara meet in the Tipperary SHC with Kiladangan, who have made huge progress during the past decade, playing ire g Anncarty/Donohill at Dolla.

Kilcormac-Killoughey's encounter against St Rynagh's in the Offaly SHC should be interesting, while Seir Kierans and Coolderry also clash.

At Kenny Park, Athenry two clubs with plenty of promising players, Turloughmore and Clarinbridge, will be intent on showing signs of further progress in the Galway SHC.

SUNDAY

Several intriguing matches will unfold in the Tipperary SHC with Kilruane MacDonaghs and Nenagh ire g meeting at The Ragg.

Following the death of Dillon Quirke, it has been a remarkably difficult and demanding stint for the Clonoulty-Rossmore.

Sunday's fixture against Moycarkey-Borris will be an emotional occasion for everyone involved.

Thurles Sarsfields and Tipperary star Ronan Maher.

The FBD Semple Stadium double header, JK Brackens versus Loughmore-Castleiney, and Drom-Inch against Thurles Sarsfields will offer an insight as to how some of the serious contenders are performing.

In Waterford, the other preliminary quarter-finals take place with Abbeyside and Dunhill commencing at 1.30pm, followed by Tallow and De La Salle.

Ballygalget, who haven't won a Down SHC title since 2017, face holders Ballycran, who have claimed three of the last four championships.

Holders Ramor United meet Butlersbridge in the Cavan SFC, while 2021 finalists Gowna are against Laragh United.

ire g Ennis against St Joseph's Milltown-Malbay promises to be a good game in the Clare SFC at Kilmihill.
