The Clare Lakelands Hotel in the village of Scariff County Clare will open as a Direct Provision Centre for Asylum Seekers in the coming days. A government briefing note to public representatives on Tuesday said t he 26 bedroom Hotel will accommodate 77 people claiming international protection / asylum.

Recent Figures released by the Department of Children and Equality show there are currently 195 Direct Provision Centres in operation accross 26 Counties accommodating 20,485 Asylum Seekers.
