A Moroccan asylum seeker , Ibrahim Elghynaoui (28) , who sexually assaulted a woman in her bed has been sentenced to 10 years by the Central Criminal Court. In her victim impact statement, the woman said because the attack happened in her own bedroom "nowhere feels safe now" , she spoke of waking to find Elghynaoui on top of her with his hand on her throat and said she believed she was going die . A Barrister and Senior Counsel , Ms Una McGurk has begun High Court proceedings against the Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland (MASI) and the group’s co-founders Lucky Khambule , Donnah Vuma and spokesperson Bulelani Mfacos. A new fast track system of Housing for Asylum Seekers arriving in Ireland will see applicants housed within four months and will become a "standard feature of Irish cities and towns" . Details of the new system are contained in a Governmental report entitled : "a white paper to end direct provision and establish a new International Protection support service" Under the new system Asylum Seekers arriving in Ireland will initially be housed in one of six state owned Reception and Integration Centres with own-door or own-room accommodation where they will receive free healthcare , childcare , educational and financial supports . A new strain of the Covid-19 virus has been found in Ireland that may render vaccines ineffective . The variant called the 'B1525' first originated in the UK and Nigeria in December and is thought to be linked to travel between the two .
